The inspiration for this birthday card design simply came from the colorful stripes patterned paper, which I’ve selected from “So Happy Together” by Denna Rutter by Echo Park Paper Co. It’s indeed as its namesake, this patterned paper conjures up happy feelings.

I’ve double-mat this colorful stripes paper. Its first mat layer came from its reverse side red patterned paper! That’s the great thing with double-sided patterned paper. You can get more mileage out from it and these paper usually match very well.

Then drawing color inspiration from the various colors seen on the colorful stripes patterned paper, I’ve decided to use yellow polka dots as its second mat layer. The polka dots paper is from another paper pad,Sn@p! Color Vibe 6×6 paper pad by Simple Stories. Then for the background paper, I’ve picked out a bright, sunshine yellow color.

For the green satin ribbon, it’s a color also picked up from the colorful stripes patterned paper. So all the color choices are complementary and supporting the colors displayed on the stripes patterned paper.

Birthday is a happy occasion to specially celebrate the existence of someone. So let happy colors bring cheer and positive feelings on such an occasion!
