Birthday card making is a useful skill. I get to express my creativity and make cards that my family and friends adore!
Cardmaking is a papercraft hobby where we create handmade cards. It's a craft that has gained popularity over the last few years.
One of the reasons for the rising popularity is due to many scrapbookers and stampers who started to use their skills to make their own cards. I started making cards that way too. :)
I began scrapbooking in 2005. After a small collection of scrapbook supplies, I started to look to my scraps and use them to make birthday cards. It's a natural progression, to move from scrapbooking into cardmaking.
Instead of accumulating lots of stuff for scrapbooking only, I can now stretch my scrapbook supplies to make birthday cards too.
Another reason for the rise of cardmaking is because people want to send out something more special than mass-produced cards on the rack. People want to send out cards others would appreciate and keep. Not just for a week or month on display, and then into the bins they go!
Homemade cards have a much longer "expiry date". People love to keep and collect handmade cards. Ask my boyfriend, he got a big envelope of cards, from me. Recently I happened to look at his collection and I went, "How I wish I were the one with your collection!"
Birthday, One of the Most Special Days
Birthday is one of the biggest occasions of the year for anyone. Rather than sending non-inspired printed birthday cards to a birthday person, why not learn to make your own birthday cards?
Surprise your loved ones and friends with a handmade birthday card! Impress them with your efforts and hear the lovely "thank yous" rolling in for your homemade cards.
I once got a hug from my boyfriend's granny, all because I made her a birthday card! It made her feel extra special and people do love to feel very special on their birthdays.
A handmade birthday card speaks volume:
It stamps "uniqueness" all over it.
It says "I love you" with more sincerity and impact.
It suggests your thoughtfulness and creativity.
Making a Birthday Card is Easy

Try to keep in mind the person whom you're making the card for. Unless you're making cards in advance for "emergencies".
You don't need the trendiest products or the latest techniques to make a great card. Once you got that person in your mind, and know a bit about her taste and style, you're likely to nail it on the head!
